Mike is an Associate Professor of Computer Science and director of the VENOM lab. He went to Kickapoo High School in Springfield Missouri then came to UMR in 1980, entering the undergraduate program in Computer Science. While completing his studies, he developed an interest in numerical modeling of mechanical problems, which lead to him earning Master degrees from UMR in both Applied Mathematics and Engineering Mechanics. Upon graduate he joined the PhD program in Applied Mathematics at Brown University as part of their Center for Turbulence, Fluid Mechanics, and Computation. After graduation in 1992, he returned to Rolla to join the faculty of UMR, serving in both the Mathematics and Computer Science departments.
